The TEXPAC Board of Directors includes physicians and Alliance members who represent each of the state's senatorial districts. There are also student and resident representatives on the Board. The Candidate Evaluation Committee reviews each and every candidate that is supported with TEXPAC funds and endorsement. The CEC is made up of 17 physician and Alliance members from across the state.
To determine the level and type of support for endorsed candidates, TEXPAC considers the following:
1) A candidate's philosophy and positions on medical legislation
2) Recommendations from physicians and TMA Alliance members in the district; and
3) Demographics of the district and a candidate's ability to win.
TEXPAC is a non-partisan political action committee. That means we support both Democrats and Republicans alike. In fact, their party affiliation is not a factor other than in the consideration of demographics and ability to win.
If the candidate is an incumbent member of the Legislature, TEXPAC bases its endorsement on the candidates support of medicines agenda in the previous legislative session.
